　アオシマのキットをベースに製作しました。もともと３５０分の１キットを作ったときの資料があったので、それをそのまま使っています。
　ミッドウェー海戦からガダルカナル島砲撃作戦当時を想定して作りましたが、ソロモン海で撮影された写真に写っている射界制限装置（おそらく 応急資材で作った急造品）が具体的にいつ取り付けられたのかは不明です。
　
This model is based on AOSHIMA,s kit.
This model is made as ATAGO ,that is the assumption of the battle of Midway to Solomon islands. The actual date when the swing limiter (a bar to make sure the AA gusn will not hit the structruere, probably made from materials for running repairment) was equipped is unknown.
The picture taken under the Solomon sea shows the bars on ATAGO,s deck.

＜改装後の高雄と愛宕の相違点＞
　高雄と愛宕は、空中線を伸ばすためにマストの位置を変更する大工事をうけていますが、この２隻はごく一部の差異しか認められません。
　おおまかに目立つ差異をピックアップしてみました。

１．高雄型それぞれに艦首フェアリーダー・ボラードの位置と形状が違う（黄色い丸）
２.艦橋前面の窓と空中線引き込み部の位置と大きさの違い（これは昔から言われている差異なので有名ですね）
３．２番砲塔の空中線支柱にある、旋回位置を示すリングの位置（高雄のほうが若干上にある）（緑色の丸）
４．艦橋側面にあるボートダビッドの艦首よりのものが、高雄は段差に基部が設けられている のに対して、愛宕は段差がなく、基部が船体に埋め込まれている（青い丸）
５．艦橋直後にある、機関室につながる吸気口が、高雄の場合大き目のラッパの ようなものが艦首側に向かって伸びているのに対して、愛宕は数本のパイプが集合 するようなデザインのものになっている（藍色の丸）
６．煙突の蒸気捨て管の形（紫の丸）
７．１番２番機銃デッキを支えているのが、愛宕の場合他の機銃同様の支柱 なのに対し、高雄のそれは部屋でも設けられているのか箱型になっている（ファインモールドの 高雄用エッチングセットには、この箱が部品化されています）。（ピンク色の丸）


Takao and Atago had remodeled their position of aft mast on 1938.
These 2 ships are identical in some parts. here is the list of difference between these 2 vessels.
1.Each vessels nose shape and number of mooring bits are diffrent (yellow circle)
2.The number of windows and antenna end is diffrent (this deffrence is very known)
3.The position of ring (showing angle of turret) on the 2nd turret is defferent (takano,s ring is on higher position)
4.Boat david on the side of bridge (Atago,s david is attached directry on the body).(green circle)
5. Takao,s ventilator of engine room is stikking out from the back of bridge to the front, and Atago,s pipe is made of several pipes.(light blue circle)
6.The shape and positions of steam pipes (purple circle)
7. Atago,s 1st and 2nd machineguns are by , but there is box shape structure below Takao,s machineguns deck.(pink circle)
Photo-etched parts from Finemold (Takao set)includes this parts of box-shape structure.


＜船体＞

　中心線で左右に分割されたキットの船体にはあらかじめ鉄板の継ぎ目がモールドされているので、各艦で差異のみられる汚水捨て管を追加しました。
　舷外電路は０．３ｍｍのプラ棒を使用しました。
　甲板上のディティールは「愛宕」を再現するにあたってはかなり変更が必要だったため殆ど取り払い、新しく作り直しました。
　「愛宕」の場合、昭和１６年に撮影された後部甲板の写真があったため再現は楽でしたが、前甲板は断片的な写真しかないため、「艦船模型」 誌に掲載されていた竣工時の前甲板を参考としました（さほど変わってないと思いますが）。
　その際、甲板には大きな穴が開いてしまうためパテで埋めてから通風きのこ・リール・箱・出入り口などを追加しました。
　今回、モデルカステンのキャタピラのあまったピンを加工して、超小型の通風きのこにしてみました。
　ボートダビッド・アンカーも、ファインモールドから発売になった新製品のプラ部品にしてみました。
　旋回軌条とレールは、ジョーワールド製エッチングを使っています。
　尚、３５０分の１の愛宕を作るときには忘れていたのですが、ボートデッキ左右にあった穴もミッドウェー海戦前にふさがれたようです（ オレンジの丸）。元々船体を軽くしたかったのでしょうが、運用上問題があったので結局塞いだのだと思います。


Seams were already molded on original kit, so I only add some pipes which each ship has charactaritics.
Degaussing cables are made of 0.3mm plastic lods.
Original reels , ventilators and winches are removed and replaced new ones, mainly made of plastic lods.

＜主砲塔＞

　主砲砲塔はピットロード製のプラ部品に、砲身は金属製部品に代えました。
　放熱板は、ライオンロアのエッチング製です。
　

Main gun turrets are replaced parts from Finemold.
Gun barrel is made of brass parts.

＜艦橋＞

　「愛宕」の艦橋前面の遮風装置は何度か改正されており、幸いミッドウェー海戦当時の艦橋の写真があったためこれを参考にしました。
　基本的に窓の位置以外、「高雄」と「愛宕」はあまり差異がみられない為、主に「高雄」の写真と図面を参考にしました。
　各装置と艦橋は伝声管（０．２ｍｍ真鍮線製）でつないでいます。
　各種観測装置・双眼鏡類はジョーワールド・ファインモールド・ハセガワ製エッチングを使用しました。


The windshield of ATAGO had been changed for several times. Fortunately, I found the picture taken at battle of Midway and reffered it.
There seems to be little difference between TAKAO and ATAGO, so I mainly reffered pictures and blueprints of TAKAO to make detail.
Main difference seems to be the number and place of front window, posistion of lifesaver, the shape of body nearby boat david, so on.
Benoculars and other observation equipments are from HASEGAWA,Finemold, Joeworld,s parts set.
Blowers and ladders are made of brass lines.

＜高角砲＞

　１２．７ｃｍ連装高角砲はピットロード製のものをベースに、真鍮線で補強材を追加、砲身を０．３ｍｍ真鍮パイプで作っています。
　探照灯はファインモールド製の透明部品を使いました。
　連装機銃もファイン製のものを使用しました。


12.7cm twin AA guns are from parts from Pitload, gunbarrels are made of 0.3mm brass pipes.
AA machineguns and serchlights are from Finemold.

＜航空兵装＞

　当時の「愛宕」の艦載機は定数表を見ると「２座２機、３座１機」となっており、実際ソロモン海で撮影された写真にはまだ九五式水偵が２機写って います。 　機動部隊に随伴する機会の多かった高雄型には優先的に零式３座（初期型）が装備されたようなのでこれを１機に、九五式水偵を２機装備しました。
　参考までに防衛省所蔵の「昭和１７年３〜５月　軍艦高雄行動関係書綴」によると、高雄の１号機（零式３座）が更新されたのは昭和１７年３月２５日だったそうです。
　また、２号機・３号機が九五式水偵であったことも記されています。


According to the list of aircrafts of fleet, TAKAO class carried 1 of 3seat recon plane and 2 of 2seats plane in 1942 ,and the picture taken under Solomon sea does show 2 type 95 2seats planes too, so I equiped one type0 3seats plane and 2 type 95 2seats planes.
According to the remaining officical record of Takao,s movement, it says that Takao,s no.1 plane (the only 3seat plane) is changed from type 94 to type 0 in 25th march, 1942.

＜後マスト＞

　幸い、ソロモン海で撮影された「愛宕」の後マストの写真があったためこれを参考にしました。
　よく見ると、戦前からすでにマストの先端は白（ないし淡いグレー？）く塗られていたようですが、これは潜水艦対策に目立たないようにしていたためかもしれません。
　また、後続の船に舵のとりかたを示す舵柄信号標（ワイヤーでつながっている赤と緑の板状の物体）を目立たせるため、マストには通常位置を示す白線も見られます。
　

I reffered the picture of ATAGO taken under Solomn sea to make the details of aft mast.
Tip of mast seems to be painted in white (or maybe light glay?) before the war. that may have done in order to reduce the risk of its being identified by submarines.

＜その他＞
　空中線は銅線製です。
　艦尾の空中線整合機はファインモールドの高雄型用エッチングセットに入っていたものに、強度の関係から真鍮線で基部を追加しました。

Antenna line is made of copper line.
